Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Mei-Sgela (PTY) Ltd ("TMS", "we", "us") is committed to ensuring that Mei-SgelaPro — our educational institution management platform — is accessible to administrators, educators, students, parents, and visitors, including people who use assistive technologies.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA for the platform interface we control. Accessibility is an ongoing effort; we review our product regularly and prioritise fixes that remove barriers for the widest number of users.

Conformance status

Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively remediating known gaps identified through internal audits and user feedback.

This statement describes the platform operated by TMS. Individual institutions may publish public websites or content through Mei-SgelaPro tools; those pages may contain institution-created content that is the responsibility of the institution to keep accessible.

Measures we take

• Accessible UI foundations (semantic HTML, keyboard-focusable controls, and screen-reader-friendly dialog components)
• Light and dark themes designed for readable foreground/background contrast
• Role-based navigation with text labels on primary menu items
• Periodic accessibility reviews of high-traffic flows (sign-in, onboarding, dashboards, admissions)
• Planned automated checks (e.g. axe-core) in our development workflow to prevent regressions
• Training for our team on inclusive design and assistive technology basics

Known limitations

The following areas may present accessibility barriers today. We are working to address them:

• Icon-only controls — Some toolbar and table action buttons may not yet expose a clear name to screen readers.
• Data tables — Complex administrative tables may lack enhanced header associations or summaries for assistive technology.
• Charts and analytics — Graphical reports may not always include a text equivalent for all data points.
• Auto-advancing content — Some carousels or rotating panels may not yet offer a pause control.
• Third-party embeds — Live chat and certain embedded widgets are provided by third parties and may not fully meet our target standard.
• Institution website builder — Public sites published by institutions depend on the content and structure chosen by each institution.
• PDF tools and exports — Generated PDFs and advanced document operations may vary in accessibility depending on source content.
• Camera and scanner flows — Event check-in and similar features rely on device cameras and may require alternative processes.

Assistive technology support

Mei-SgelaPro is designed to work with modern browsers and commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers (e.g. NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation, and browser zoom up to 200%. We recommend using the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge for the best experience.

If you are a student, educator, parent, or staff member using Mei-SgelaPro through your institution and need an accommodation to access academic or administrative features, please contact your institution administrator first. Institutions can configure roles, provide alternative formats, or escalate to us on your behalf.

Testing and review

Our accessibility work includes static code review, manual keyboard testing, spot checks with screen readers, and contrast review of theme tokens in light and dark mode. We plan to expand automated testing in continuous integration. This statement was last reviewed on 13 August 2026; we target a formal review at least quarterly.
